The official opening of the Mt Perry Men’s Shed was held on Saturday 4th May and it was pleasing to see so many locals support this occasion. The shed was completed to lock-up almost exactly 1 year ago and since then, power and water were connected with the sewerage installation now complete. The special guests to attend were Jamie Coad, General Manager of Evolution Mining’s Mt Rawdon Operation with his wife, Leanne and Greg (Jamie’s 2-IC) and Sharon Baird. Councillor John Bowen also attended with a visit by Don Waugh of Gayndah Men’s Shed. Our long-standing supporter, Arthur Dingle and his wife Val also came along for this event – and our thanks go to Arthur and Keith Gear for cooking up a great sausage sizzle.

In reaching this milestone we need to acknowledge the financial support of Evolution Mining which, combined with a few grants, made it possible to get to this stage. Jamie’s speech was encouraging for the members and made the point that future plans for the Men’s Shed were gaining momentum. Big things are planned for the town and this is just the beginning!

It won’t be too long now before the fit-out inside the shed is completed and then we can focus on the prime reason the shed is there – the health and well-being of the Mt Perry men and the inter-reaction with the other local community groups.
